Boca Chica

Boca Chica

During the 1950s and 1960s the area was taken over by the more prosperous families on the Dominican Republic who build summer homes along the beach. By the 1970s, however, the secret was out and it became a popular destination for beach-goers.

Be Live Hamaca Suites

Be Live is a hotel chain that is growing in popularity, which might help to explain the six hundred plus rooms on offer here. The casino is only small, but there’s enough room for tens of electronic machines as well as eight tables.

Other Gambling on the Dominican Republic

Hipódromo V centenario

Whilst casinos are the most popular form of gambling in the country, the Dominican Republic is also home to numerous other forms of gambling. The likes of cock fighting is common, for example, though not particular palatable to visiting tourists.

Bingo parlours can be found around the island, whilst the lottery takes place every week and gives people a chance to win a small fortune. Perhaps the thing that is least expected on the Dominican Republic, however, is horse racing.

The Hipódromo V Centenario is located in Santo Domingo and plays host to a number of horse racing meetings throughout the year. It opened its doors in 1995 and some of the country’s best horse breeders send their charges here for the races.
